About Conquest 2023Conquest is BITS Pilaniโs flagship startup accelerator program, conceptualized and executed entirely by a team of 25 students from Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership (CEL), the e-cell of BITS Pilani, Pilani campus. The program structure is purpose-built for obtaining a quantified delta in each startupโs journey across two stages - ignition (6-week online phase) and inflection (1-week offline phase) through which we open relevant networks, deliver critical product and business insights, and help refine the startup pitch. The seven-week journey culminates in the Demo Dayin Bangalore. Conquest 2023 was Title Sponsored by WestBridge Capital, with WEH Ventures, WeWork Labs, Introbot and Qapita coming in as sponsors and high-impact partners. Conquest also featured 30+ corporate partners like AWS, Notion, HubSpot, Stripe among others, and 30+ investment partners such as Nexus Venture Partners, Elevation Capital, Titan Capital, BEENEXT, 3one4 Capital etc.Ignition PhaseThe ignition phase kicked off with a cohort of 22 startups selected through a rigorous evaluation process from a pool of 2200+ applicants. After spending the first week in need assessment and goal assessment, the team worked closely with a network of 100+ mentors and domain expertsThe startup report at the end of the Ignition phase comprehensively summarizes the insights generated from mentorsโ feedback and compares the pitch scores across the weeks shared by evaluation partners.Inflection PhaseThe Inflection phase takes place offline in Bangalore, flying in the 12 shortlisted startups from the Ignition cohort, sharing co-living and co-working spaces for a week. The week features ample networking opportunities with prominent investors, founders, and operators through office visits, offline sessions, workshops, and mixer events that Conquest organizes.Demo DayThe Demo Day, or Conquestโs Grand Finale, was held on Sunday, 13th August 2023, at The LaLiT Ashok Bangalore. The Demo Day was a Shark Tank-styled pitching competition to a Jury of 20+ prolific investors such as Sameer Brij Verma (Managing Director, Nexus Venture Partners), Pranav Pai (Founding Partner, 3one4 Capital), Bipin Shah (Partner, Titan Capital) among others, with equity-free grants for the top 2 startups from Conquestโs Cohort of 2023.The Demo Day also featured panel discussions featuring top founders such as Sanjay Dasari (Co-founder, WayCool Foods), Virender Bisht (Co-founder, Niyo Solutions), Angad Kikla (Co-founder, CityMall) among others. With 12 startups pitching, and very intense competition, the Demo Day, the equity-free grants were awarded to the following startups:โ Winner: Glovatrix, founded by Aishwarya Karnataki and Pariksh*t Sohoni. "Y Combinator: ๐๐ ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ฌ๐๐ฌ ๐ด / ๐ ๐๐ง๐ข๐๐จ๐ซ๐ง ๐ฆ"According to a PitchBook analysis on large accelerators, Y Combinator has emerged as the accelerator of choice for founders seeking unprecedented success (source: PitchBook analysis on large accelerators). With a remarkable track record of supporting groundbreaking startups such as Airbnb and Reddit, Y Combinator has solidified its position as a leader in the industry. The analysis highlights that since 2010, approximately 4.5% of startups that have gone through Y Combinator have achieved the coveted billion-dollar valuation (source: PitchBook analysis on large accelerators). For cohorts between 2010 and 2015, this unicorn creation rate rises to an impressive 5.4%. These figures surpass the success rates of other renowned accelerators like Techstars, MassChallenge, 500 Global, and SOSV. Y Combinator has also outpaced its competitors in terms of cumulative capital raised. From its 2010 to 2022 cohort companies, it has raised a staggering $80.9 billion in total (source: PitchBook analysis on large accelerators). Remarkably, two-thirds of the accelerator's total value is attributed to its unicorn success stories, a significantly higher rate than its competitors. Y Combinator's success can be attributed to its unique value proposition. Founded in 2005, it was one of the earliest accelerators following the dot-com bubble burst. The program offers access to an extensive network of accomplished alumni founders, introductions to industry-leading mentors, valuable educational resources, and the prestige of being associated with an established brand. To maintain its edge, Y Combinator has become increasingly selective, focusing on its core strategy. Recent measures include the closure of its late-stage growth program and a 20% reduction in staff. These strategic moves ensure that Y Combinator maintains its high-quality standards and prioritizes the success of its participating startups. While the startup ecosystem has seen a proliferation of accelerators and incubators, not all programs deliver equal results. Y Combinator's success extends beyond raising capital; it emphasizes talent development. As Upal Basu, managing partner at NGP Capital, aptly states, developing talent is just as crucial as securing funding. In summary, backed by the insights from the PitchBook analysis, Y Combinator stands out as the premier accelerator for startup success. With its unparalleled unicorn creation rate, remarkable capital raised, and strategic focus on talent development, Y Combinator continues to shape the future of innovation and entrepreneurship.#startupsuccess #innovation #YCombinator #startup #unicorn

Incubator, accelerator, or both?Dive in, and let's demystify this in 60 seconds flat. ๐90% of startups fail -- picking the right support system might just tilt the odds in your favor. So, let's spill the beans: what really sets incubators apart from accelerators, and how do you swipe right on the perfect match for your startup? ๐ค1๏ธโฃโ๏ธ Similarities:โ๏ธ Mentorship: Both provide invaluable advice and guidance. Networking: Your pass to the "who's who" of the industry.โ๏ธ Resources: Equipping startups with essential tools. Funding: Be it funding or a route to it, they've got you.2๏ธโฃ๐ฅ Differences:โ๏ธ Startup stage:โช๏ธ Incubators nurture ideas and early-stage startups. Got an idea scribbled on a napkin? They are your jam. Accelerators refine and scale startups with a Minimum Viable Product (MVP). Got an MVP? They're ready to supercharge it!โ๏ธ Duration:โช๏ธ Incubators offer open-ended support. They're in it for the long haul. ๐ขโช๏ธ Accelerators typically run 3-6 month programs. Adrenaline rush! ๐โ๏ธ Equity and Fees:โช๏ธ Incubators may or may not take equity. Some charge an upfront fee so you can keep the ownership of your company. Accelerators usually take equity (anywhere from 3-10%) for an investment.โ๏ธ End Goal:โช๏ธ Incubators focus on stability and gradual growth, think of them as your startup's caring grandparents. They hand-hold you through your way. Accelerators push for rapid growth and scaling. Theyโre the personal trainers pushing your limits! Conclusion:At the end of the day, whether you opt for an incubator, an accelerator, or decide to get a taste of both: remember it's all about aligning with your startup's vision and pace.Decide based on where you are, where you want to go, and how fast you want to get there. The right support system isn't just about the perks, but how well it aligns with your startup's heartbeat. If you are looking for a mix of both worlds, hand-holding and fast growth: I, Amilcar Chavarria, the team at Fractionally, and our 60+ CXOs are eager to help.
